As a yoga business consultant and coach, my goal is to support yoga teachers along their path of launching a successful yoga business. Whether it be opening a yoga studio or just branding yourself as a yoga teacher, I am passionate about helping yogi’s find their way in the business world and helping them see that their business is a direct reflection of their yoga practice. If you are interested in learning more about me and how I came to be a yoga business consultant, below is my story.
Alex spent 8 years working for Gaiam, one of the largest yoga companies in the US where he helped manage many of their media properties. Alex was deeply immersed in the yoga, health, and green business culture for seven years working directly with many yoga studio owners and businesses (including his CEO being part owner of Golden Bridge Yoga studio). During his time with Gaiam and CE Media he saw first hand how people like Shiva Rea, John Friend, and Rodney Yee came to stardom (Gaiam and CE also produced their yoga DVD’s), and how major yoga organizations like Kripalu, Yoga Works, and Omega approached their yoga business strategy.
After leaving Gaiam, Alex worked with two leading social and mobile media companies working with Fortune 500 companies such as Toyota, Blackberry, St Ives, Sony, Universal and many others on their social and mobile media campaigns.
Realizing his love for the yoga community and supporting small businesses, Alex launched yogicoach.com: A coaching and consulting firm for yoga businesses.
“The way I see it, a yogi’s business is a direct reflection and totally intertwined into a yogi’s practice. I am good at business and yoga teachers are good at teaching yoga and helping people become healthy. It’s a shame to see so many aspiring teachers not make it because they did not have the business savvy or know how to manage certain aspects of their yoga business. So I am here to help in any way I can.”
